What the Program Teaches

This five-week program is broken into two parts: the first three weeks are spent on campus and include a couple introductory visits to our partner Western Dental, where you’ll also spend the final two weeks of the program gaining on-the-job experience.

Through the course of the program, you’ll receive detailed and practical instruction on how to effectively collect an outstanding debt. Through role play and lesson plans, we’ll teach you how to overcome debtor objections, provide excellent customer service, abide by required collections laws, and understand both the collections aspect and debtor’s point of view. You’ll also create sample collection goals and commission-pay programs to gain deeper understanding of how your future employer will evaluate and pay you.

At the end of the Collections Representative program, you will understand the following:

  • collections terminology
  • collections laws
  • collections goals
  • goals self-management
  • importance of quantity and quality
  • consistently meeting goals
  • importance of attendance
  • overcoming objections
  • reason for delinquency (valid vs. excuses)
  • why listening and empathy pay off
  • importance of controlling each call
  • importance of debtor contact information
  • the collections representative’s role
